Moss emerges from the breaks; - Exhibition artwork
An exhibition work that was selected for the 2024 Queensland Regional Art Awards Mervyn Moriarty Touring Exhibition.
Moss emerges from the breaks;
damp red earth beneath a crumbling grey,
a thread of what should be
2024
Reduction fired glazed ceramic
21 x 15 cm
An exploration of the connection between lived experiences of the landscape and the memories they hold. The vessel draws on layered glaze over encrusted forms to emphasise the allusion of memory development through repeated exposure to experiences within a landscape. Prioritising emotional tension through form, texture and colour, the work creates a push and pull between the refined formality of the wheel thrown form and the organic glaze encrustations.
This work was an early experimental work made in 2024 whilst I was developing the aesthetics and techniques now employed in my textured exhibition works..
Please note that these ceramic items are hand made on a potter's wheel and are organic in nature. These pieces are dishwasher safe, however handwashing is recommended to prolong their life. One of a kind artwork not intended for functional use.
